Sumatra Takengon KKGO Fair Trade Organic
This Fair Trade Organic coffee is grown from the Bourbon, Catimor, and Typica varietals by the KKGO (Koperasi Kopi Gayo Organic) cooperative in the Takengon Highlands of the Aceh Province, Sumatra. This region is also referred to as the Gayo Lands because of the coffee farmers which are of the Gayonese ethnic group. Furthermore, most of the coffee farmers in this region are widows who lost their husbands during periods of conflict in Aceh and are still recovering from the tsunami in 2004 and the earthquake which damaged a great portion of the province in 2013.
We’re proud to be offering this Sumatra Takengon, which is an exceptional example of Sumatran coffees and one we keep coming back to for its earthy and sweet tones with pops of cinnamon and deep notes of chocolate, a heavy body with a complex floral finish.
